Alex DeBrincat scored with just 1.8 seconds left in regulation, and Erik Gustafsson found the net in overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks earned a miraculous 5-4 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night at Sunrise, Fla.

Chicago also got goals from David Kampf, Patrick Kane and Alexandre Fortin. It was Kane's 13th goal of the season.

Backup goalie Cam Ward made 34 saves for Chicago, which pulled the goalie before DeBrincat's heroics.

Florida's Mike Hoffman celebrated his 29th birthday by posting a goal and an assist, starting a new points streak a day after his franchise-record 17-game run ended.

The Panthers, who have played the fewest home games in the NHL this season (eight), also got goals from Jared McCann, Aaron Ekblad and Frank Vatrano.

Florida goalie James Reimer made 36 saves.

Florida opened the scoring 5:48 into the first period. After Chicago's Brandon Manning was sent off for holding, Florida's power play clicked for the fourth time in its past three games.

There were just 24 seconds left with the man advantage when Hoffman one-timed a pass from Keith Yandle, firing the puck from the right circle and just under Ward's glove.

The Panthers made it 2-0 with 13:40 expired in the first period. Colton Sceviour drew defenders along the boards before dishing to McCann, who was alone in front and roofed a backhander over Ward.

Chicago got on the board just 49 seconds into the second period. A pass from Dominik Kahun sprung Kampf, who skated around Ekblad and then deked Reimer out of position and scored with his backhand.

The Blackhawks tied the score with 5:34 expired in the second as a charging Kane redirected a lead pass from Brandon Saad.

Florida went back ahead 3-2 with 8:08 gone in the second when Ekblad took a cross-ice pass from Hoffman and scored on a one-timer from the left circle.

Vatrano, sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct with 11:05 left in the second, came out of the box and scored 35 seconds later. He batted in a waist-high pass that was sent to the crease by Jonathan Huberdeau, who shoveled the puck off his backhand as he was falling.

Fortin's short-handed goal with 9:52 expired in the third period cut Florida's lead to 4-3 as he scored on a breakaway after stealing the puck from Nick Bjugstad. Reimer made the initial stop, but the puck went in off Fortin's left skate.
