Preview Roundups
April 15, 2018
Baltimore at Boston 1:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox began the season strong on the mound but took a little longer to get the bats going. The bats don't seem to want to quit now, and the pitching remains strong as the Red Sox will try to continue the best start in franchise history by clinching a series win when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday in the third of a four-game series.
Milwaukee at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers finally derailed the New York Mets' express train, ending their nine-game winning streak and handing them their first defeat since the third game of the season with a 5-1 victory on Saturday night. Visiting Milwaukee has a chance to send New York to its first series loss but must overcome ace Noah Syndergaard in the rubber match Sunday at Citi Field.
Philadelphia at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies look to continue an offensive surge and extend their winning streak to six when they attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the host Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon. The Phillies scored six times in the second inning Saturday and finished with 13 hits overall to register a 9-4 victory, pushing their total to 55 runs while winning seven of their last eight contests.
Pittsburgh at Miami 1:10 PM ET
Having squandered a chance to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Miami Marlins will try to rebound from a heartbreaking loss when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set. Miami has limited the National League Central-leading Pirates to three runs in two games as it vies for its first series win of 2018.
St. Louis at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are the latest team to take advantage of the struggling Cincinnati Reds and they aim for a road sweep of their National League Central division rivals when the teams complete a four-game set Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals have outscored the Reds by a 24-8 margin through the first three contests, including Saturday's 6-1 triumph behind seven strong innings from Miles Mikolas.
Toronto at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays give their vastly improved offense a big test when they visit two-time Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon for the finale of a rain-shortened, two-game series. The Blue Jays are fourth in the American League in runs scored after finishing last in 2017 and rallied from an early four-run deficit to take the opener of the series 8-4 on Friday before Saturday’s game was postponed.
NY Yankees at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers finally began to generate some momentum with the bats in the late innings on Friday, only to have Saturday's game postponed. The Tigers will try to fight through the raindrops again when they host the New York Yankees in a split doubleheader on Sunday that is scheduled despite the threat of rain throughout the day.
Colorado at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Matt Wieters has averaged just 87 games played per season since 2014 due to injuries, but the Washington Nationals enter Sunday’s home series finale against the Colorado Rockies hoping their catcher is getting on track. Playing in just his fifth game of the season Saturday after suffering a left oblique strain, Wieters singled and homered in Saturday’s 6-2 victory as Washington snapped a three-game losing skid.
LA Angels at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
Two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani has been living up to his hype in both facets of his game over the first few weeks of the season. The Japanese right-hander attempts to become the first Los Angeles Angels pitcher to win his first three starts since Jared Weaver in 2006 as the team looks to complete a perfect seven-game road trip when it visits the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Atlanta at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

One big inning sometimes can be enough to help a team break out of an offensive slump. The Chicago Cubs hope that’s true in their case, and they’ll find out in the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Atlanta Braves on Sunday.

Arizona at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have raced out to an early four-game advantage in the National League West after only 15 contests, and much of the credit for that goes to their recent domination of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Diamondbacks seek a fourth consecutive regular-season series sweep of the Dodgers on Sunday, when the division rivals put a bow on their three-game set in Los Angeles.
Oakland at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners aim for their fifth consecutive victory and a three-game sweep when they host the Oakland Athletics on Sunday for the finale of their series. Seattle outlasted Oakland 10-8 on Saturday as six players recorded multi-hit performances during a 17-hit attack.
San Francisco at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
Hunter Renfroe hasn't done much to change his reputation as an all-or-nothing hitter in the early going, but the power he has supplied recently in Wil Myers' absence has the San Diego Padres feeling pretty good about themselves. The Padres go for a second straight series win against a National League West rival on Sunday, when they wrap up a four-game home set against the San Francisco Giants.
NY Yankees at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers finally began to generate some momentum with the bats in the late innings on Friday, only to have Saturday's game postponed. The Tigers will try to fight through the raindrops again when they host the New York Yankees in a split doubleheader on Sunday that is scheduled despite the threat of rain throughout the day.
Texas at Houston 8:08 PM ET
The Texas Rangers got a big boost from an unlikely source to snap a five-game skid Saturday in Houston and they have a chance for their first series win of the year when they finish a three-game set with the host Astros on Sunday. The Rangers were 4-11, had lost four of five on the season against their in-state rivals and trailed 5-0 on Saturday before rallying for a 6-5 win in 10 innings.
