Preview Roundups
April 17, 2017
Tampa Bay at Boston 11:05 AM ET
Knuckleballer Steven Wright was a revelation for the Boston Red Sox last year, winning 13 games in his first full season as a starter and earning a selection to the All-Star Game. Wright is off to a rocky start on the young season and attempts to get back on track when Boston winds up a four-game series against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Monday morning.
Chi. White Sox at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox won two of three in each of the first two series on its nine-game road trip, but repeating the feat will be a difficult task as they visit the red-hot New York Yankees on Monday for the opener of a three-game set. New York is riding a winning streak that reached seven games with Sunday's 9-3 triumph over St. Louis.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 7:05 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have to be brimming with confidence as they begin a three-game road series against the Central Division-rival St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. The Pirates, who had been on a four-game slide, posted 18 runs while sweeping a three-game set against the Cubs in Chicago over the weekend as former National League MVP Andrew McCutchen continues heat up offensively.
San Diego at Atlanta 7:35 PM ET
Ender Inciarte hit three home runs last season, but as the Atlanta Braves conclude a four-game home series Monday against the San Diego Padres, the center fielder is riding quite a power surge. Last year's National League Gold Glove winner, Inciarte smacked his fourth homer in the past four games as the Braves extended their winning streak to four games with a 9-2 victory Sunday afternoon.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers are enjoying life on the road, and they hope to continue their hot streak when they open a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. The Brewers lost two of three to the Cubs at home from April 7-9 but have won five of six on their current trek, which concludes with the set in the Windy City.

LA Angels at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros likely began their last series feeling fortunate to be tied with the Los Angeles Angels atop the American League West standings, but they stand a great chance of using their next set to create a significant early advantage over their division rival. The streaking Astros look to add to their early 2 1/2-game division lead Monday, when they host the Angels in the opener of a four-game series.
Cleveland at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
Two teams that have cooled off considerably after hot starts attempt to get rolling again when the Minnesota Twins host the Cleveland Indians on Monday to open a four-game series between American League Central rivals. The Twins won five of the first six games to begin the season before going 2-4, while Cleveland swept Texas in three games to start the campaign and has won just two of its nine contests since.
Texas at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers attempt to bounce back from a disastrous weekend series in Seattle as they continue their nine-game road trip Monday with the opener of a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics. Texas began its trek by taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels before being swept by the Mariners.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Arizona closer Fernando Rodney has struggled out of the gate for his new team, but the Diamondbacks have been pleased with his overall production. Rodney has converted four of his five save opportunities for Arizona, which aims for a split of its four-game series against the host Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
Miami at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins will try to ride a wave of momentum across the country when they begin a three-game series at the Seattle Mariners on Monday. The Marlins' 4-2 homestand ended with three consecutive wins over the division rival New York Mets, capped by Sunday's walk-off win on rookie J.T. Riddle's first career home run.
