Preview Roundups
November 20, 2018
Georgia at Clemson 1:30 PM ET
Clemson senior Shelton Mitchell watched fellow guard Marcquise Reed take over a close game against Sam Houston State last Wednesday. Mitchell did the same Monday to push the 16th-ranked Tigers to the semifinals of the Cayman Islands Classic against Georgia on Tuesday.
Xavier at San Diego St. 2:30 PM ET
Xavier meets San Diego State in the Maui Invitational consolation bracket Tuesday after nearly upsetting the nation's No. 9 team in the first round. The Musketeers rallied from a five-point deficit with less than a minute remaining in regulation to force overtime before getting outscored 11-2 in the extra session in an 88-79 loss to Auburn.
Iowa State at Illinois 4:30 PM ET
After leading Arizona by 10 points in the second half on Monday at the Maui Invitational, short-handed Iowa State faltered down the stretch en route to a 71-66 loss. The Cyclones look to bounce back in Tuesday’s consolation round against Illinois, which gave No. 3 Gonzaga a late scare in their first-round matchup before losing 84-78.
Tulane at UC Irvine 5:00 PM ET
Tulane came away with an 84-80 victory over South Dakota State to open the Gulf Coast Showcase, advancing to Tuesday’s semifinal where undefeated UC Irvine will be waiting. Four players scored in double figures for the Green Wave in the win as they turned the ball over six times – 12 below their season average entering the game.
California at Temple 5:00 PM ET
California has to wonder how it ended up in the consolation game of the Legends Classic against Temple. The Bears arrived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and shot nearly 57 percent in the semifinals, draining 44.4 percent of their 3-pointers and 81.3 percent of their foul shots, but their defense let them down Monday.
Bradley at Southern Methodist 6:00 PM ET
Both SMU and Bradley are coming off losses and looking for a little pre-Thanksgiving turnaround when they meet Tuesday in the opening round of the Cancun Challenge in Mexico. The Mustangs have swapped wins and losses to begin the season - all at home - and dropped a 79-73 decision to Lipscomb on Saturday.
St. Peter's at NC State 7:00 PM ET

North Carolina State looks to continue its dominant start to the season when it hosts Saint Peter’s on Tuesday in a contest that is part of the Wolfpack Classic. N.C. State has won its first four games by an average of 41.5 points.

Nicholls State at Mississippi 7:00 PM ET

Ole Miss looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it hosts Nicholls State on Tuesday as part of the Emerald Coast Classic. The Rebels have won all eight of the previous meetings by an average of 20.9 points, with the most recent victory coming in 2009.

Duquesne at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
Notre Dame looks to make it four wins in five games as it wraps up the Gotham Classic by hosting Duquesne on Tuesday evening. The Fighting Irish were stunned on home court by Radford last Wednesday but got back into the win column with a 73-64 win over William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
Texas-Arlington at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
Indiana appeared to be on a roll to start the season before a one-point loss at Arkansas on Sunday, but the Hoosiers will have an opportunity to regroup Tuesday when they return home to play Texas-Arlington as part of the Hardwood Showcase. Injuries and foul trouble created a lack of depth and late-game mistakes also hurt Indiana in its first loss of the year.
Samford at Ohio St. 7:00 PM ET
Ohio State, one of six Big Ten teams in the Top 25 this week at No. 23, takes on an unbeaten opponent Tuesday night in a home game against Samford. The Buckeyes' latest win was an 89-61 rout of South Carolina State on Sunday that was led by sophomore center Kaleb Wesson's 18 points.
Cornell at Connecticut 7:00 PM ET
If an upset of previously ranked Syracuse showed how high Connecticut's ceiling might be under Dan Hurley, then its blowout loss to Iowa less than 24 hours later may have served as a reminder of how much more the first-year coach has to do to return the school back to prominence. The Huskies hope to begin that journey with a five-game homestand Tuesday when they face Cornell for the first time in nearly 54 years.
Southern California at Missouri St. 7:00 PM ET
USC hopes to rebound from a disappointing second-half performance in the semifinals when it takes on Missouri State in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Classic on Tuesday night in Kansas City. The Trojans built a nine-point halftime time lead Monday, but gave up 55 in the final 20 minutes to suffer a 78-63 loss to Texas Tech while registering 17 total turnovers.
Georgia St. at Creighton 7:30 PM ET
Creighton put a late-game collapse against Ohio State behind it in its first game of the Cayman Islands Classic on Monday. The Bluejays play their second of three games in three days when they meet a strong Georgia State team in Tuesday's semifinals.
St. John's at VCU 7:30 PM ET
Shamorie Ponds continues to show that he is one of the best guards in America. The St. John's junior aims to lead the Red Storm to the Legends Classic title when he faces VCU in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Tuesday.
Lipscomb at Texas Christian 8:00 PM ET
TCU coach Jamie Dixon has seen dramatic improvements in redshirt freshman center Kevin Samuel, and the evidence is showing up on the court. Samuel is coming off back-to-back double-doubles as the No. 18 Horned Frogs prepare for a visit from Lipscomb on Tuesday.
Auburn at Duke 8:00 PM ET
Top-ranked Duke appears to have the horses to win its sixth national championship and hopes to continue proving it when the Blue Devils host No. 9 Auburn on Tuesday in the Maui Invitational. Duke routed San Diego State 90-64 on Monday behind 20 points from freshman forward RJ Barrett (team-high 24 points per game), while freshman forward Zion Williamson (22.3) played only seven minutes in the first half because of foul trouble.
Wright St. at Penn St. 8:30 PM ET
Penn State finally tasted defeat for the first time in eight games stretching back to last season and the Nittany Lions hope to bounce back near the beach when they play Wright State on Tuesday at the Cancun Challenge in Mexico. After winning five in a row to claim the NIT crown last spring and its first two games this season, Penn State fell 72-70 at DePaul in overtime Thursday.
Santa Clara at Minnesota 9:00 PM ET
Minnesota got its stay in Canada off to a good start and looks to remain perfect on the young season when it continues play in the Vancouver Showcase against Santa Clara on Tuesday. The Golden Gophers picked up a pair of wins on their home court to begin the season before outlasting Texas A&M 69-64 on Sunday in their opener at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Texas Tech at Nebraska 9:30 PM ET
No. 24 Nebraska has been impressive in the first four games while winning by an average of almost 42 points, but will likely gets the toughest test yet when it takes on Texas Tech in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansa City on Tuesday. The experienced Cornhuskers got 23 points from senior forward Isaac Copeland as they pulled away in the second half for an 85-62 victory over Missouri State in the semifinals Monday.
Green Bay at Oregon 10:00 PM ET
Bol Bol may have entered the public consciousness more for his late NBA father (Manute Bol), but he has already started to make a name for himself just four games into his college career. The 7-2 freshman attempts to continue impressing his opponents Tuesday when No. 20 Oregon returns home to face Green Bay in the second of two campus round games as part of the 2K Empire Classic.
Colorado at San Diego 10:00 PM ET
Colorado tries to exact revenge from San Diego while looking to begin its season 3-0 when the Buffaloes visit the Toreros on Tuesday night. Arizona at Gonzaga 10:00 PM ET
Replacing five starters has gone better than expected for Arizona, which improved to 4-0 with Monday’s 71-66 win over Iowa State in a first-round matchup at the Maui Invitational. The Wildcats take another step up in competition Tuesday in a semifinal game against No. 3 Gonzaga, which opened tournament play with an 84-78 win over Illinois.
Texas A&M at Washington 11:30 PM ET
Jaylen Nowell made a statement in the opener of the Vancouver Showcase, and the sophomore star seeks an encore when he leads Washington into a matchup with Texas A&M in Canada on Tuesday. Nowell electrified the Vancouver Convention Centre with 32 points - 21 in the first half - in an 82-68 win over Santa Clara on Sunday.
