Preview Roundups
November 24, 2018
Washington at NY Rangers 2:00 PM ET
It took the Washington Capitals more than a month to post back-to-back victories and now the reigning Stanley Cup champions are on their longest winning streak of the season as they prepare to open a two-game road trip at the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The Capitals have won four in a row overall and three straight against the Rangers.
Winnipeg at St. Louis 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues know a lackluster start to the season led to this week’s coaching change, and under interim coach Craig Berube are taking on a tougher style of play as they enter Saturday’s home contest against the Winnipeg Jets. The Blues started two fights in the first 75 seconds on Friday and rolled from there in a 6-2 victory over Nashville in their first home game since Berube took over for the fired Mike Yeo on Monday.
Philadelphia at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers bring some long-awaited momentum into their road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Philadelphia handed the New York Rangers their first shutout loss of the season Friday with a 4-0 victory that also snapped the Flyers' four-game losing streak and sent them North of the Border in a good mood.
Boston at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
Working overtime isn't working out too well for the Montreal Canadiens, who will attempt to halt their longest losing streak of the season when they open a five-game homestand Saturday night against the Boston Bruins. The Canadiens gave up a late goal in regulation before suffering their third straight defeat (0-1-2) with a 3-2 overtime loss to red-hot Buffalo on Friday.
Buffalo at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres find themselves in unfamiliar territory - battling for first place in the Atlantic Division - as they ride an eight-game winning streak into Detroit to face the Red Wings on Saturday. Buffalo, which defeated Montreal 3-2 on Friday, has won nine in a row twice in franchise history (1979-80, 1976-77) with the club record of 10 straight (1983-84, 2006-07) on the horizon as it rubs elbows with Tampa Bay and Toronto at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Chicago at Florida 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers will quickly try to put a night to forget behind them when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Florida lost Roberto Luongo to an apparent knee injury during Friday's 4-1 loss at Carolina - its fourth setback in five games - while Mike Hoffman had his franchise-record point streak halted at 17 contests.
Carolina at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
Jordan Martinook put on an offensive display to help the Carolina Hurricanes conclude their season-high six-game homestand with a third consecutive victory. The 26-year-old left wing hopes for a repeat performance when the Hurricanes visit the New York Islanders on Saturday.
Columbus at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a deep funk as they've won only two of their last 12 games (2-7-3). They have earned points in three straight contests, however, and look to extend the streak when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche have recovered from a slump at the beginning of November and are rolling again as they prepare to host the Central Division-rival Dallas Stars for the first time this season on Saturday. The Avalanche, who lost five in a row from Oct. 27-Nov. 9 to spoil a hot start to the season, have earned at least one point in six straight contests (5-0-1) after posting a convincing 5-1 home victory over Arizona on Friday.
San Jose at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
Two-time Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson finally is making his presence felt and looks to continue his offensive surge when the San Jose Sharks open a five-game road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. Karlsson registered just seven points (all assists) in his first 18 games with the Sharks after being acquired from Ottawa in a preseason trade, but has notched eight over the last five contests after scoring one goal and setting up two others in Friday’s 4-0 win over Vancouver.
Vancouver at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks have gone eight games without a victory while the Los Angeles Kings are losers of four straight at home. One of the slides will come to an end on Saturday, when the Canucks visit the Kings for the finale of their three-game road trip.
