Preview Roundups
November 27, 2018
San Jose at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The surprising Buffalo Sabres keep finding ways to win and look to match a franchise record with their 10th straight victory when they host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. Buffalo, which last won 10 in a row to start the 2006-07 season, prevailed at Detroit 3-2 on Saturday in a shootout - the sixth time it has won after regulation during the streak - to sit one point out of the top spot in the league after finishing last in 2017-18.
Ottawa at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The struggling Philadelphia Flyers made the first of what could be several changes Monday when general manager Ron Hextall was fired, as they attempt to change the fortunes of a team sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers, who have lost five of six (1-4-1), will try to begin climbing in the standings when they host the equally troubled Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.
Carolina at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
Captain Shea Weber is in line to make his season debut as the skidding Montreal Canadiens aim to snap a four-game winless skid on Tuesday against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. Sidelined following offseason knee surgery, Weber will be a welcome sight for sore eyes for a Canadiens' defense that has been extremely generous as well as provide a booming shot for the power play.
Anaheim at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have scored 10 goals combined in the first period during the last three games and red-hot right wing Nikita Kucherov helped set up half of them while also posting a power-play tally. Kucherov attempts to extend his point streak to seven games as the Lightning look to get the jump in the opening 20 minutes again when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
Colorado at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The NHL's top scoring line of Mikko Rantanen, Nathan MacKinnon and captain Gabriel Landeskog continues to pile up video game numbers but the Colorado trio faces a stiff test when the Avalanche visit the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Rantanen and MacKinnon are Nos. 1-2 in the league in points with 38 and 35 while Landeskog (14 goals) is in the top 10 in scoring after the trio combined for eight goals and 16 assists in the last four games - all victories.
Arizona at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild are a well-rested and happy group as they try to cap a 3-0-0 homestand when the struggling Arizona Coyotes visit Tuesday. Minnesota is tied with Colorado for second place in the Central after a rough-and-tumble 4-2 victory over division-rival Winnipeg on Friday, while Arizona has dropped four in a row - the last two by a combined 11-2 - after Sunday's 6-1 setback to Calgary included three short-handed goals by the Flames.
Pittsburgh at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
There are plenty of words to describe a hot streak for a player, but what Patrik Laine did last week for the Winnipeg Jets almost defies any label. The Jets host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday and their 20-year-old forward certainly will be in the spotlight, after the NHL's first star of the week scored 11 goals in four games - culminating with a franchise-record five-goal performance in Winnipeg’s 8-4 victory Saturday at St. Louis.
Vegas at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights have had several days to savor the flavor of extending their win streak to three games via back-to-back shutouts, but the bitter pill of life of the road awaits the second-year franchise. The Golden Knights bid to improve on their 5-9-0 mark on the road on Tuesday when they open a three-game trek against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Dallas at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars visit the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday in a matchup of struggling teams with optimistic coaches. Edmonton (2-7-1 in its last 10 games) fell to 1-1-1 since veteran Ken Hitchcock took the reins from Todd McLellan with a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles on Sunday while Dallas and first-year coach Jim Montgomery squandered a lead in the final three minutes of a 3-2 setback at Colorado on Saturday for the team's third loss in four games.
Los Angeles at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings haven't received a great deal of good news this season, however coach Willie Desjardins provided a ray of sunshine for his struggling club by revealing that injured goaltender Jonathan Quick could return at some point during the team's three-game road trip. The NHL-worst Kings (17 points) bid to ride that momentum into Vancouver on Tuesday as they attempt to exact a bit of revenge against the Canucks.
